I like music, sounds. Always did. Music exist to make you smile, cry, reach the sky with your feet on the ground. Maybe that’s the reason why I always enjoyed so much the musicians in concerts, balls or TV. Music always had a big effect on me...
By the end of the 70´s there was a piano in my house. When I was about five, I started playing with it, even not knowing exactly what I was playing. My feet didn´t even touch the floor, but I felt already attracted for the different sounds it made. By this time I started to notice what pleased me or not. I played with my thumbs turned down making the keys sound intensively. Then, with my thumbs and my brother’s help, I got what I like to call my first “composition”. No much, just a kid’s song. Would you like to listen?
Pala, Opus 1
By this time my mother used to listen to Elton John, Abba, Julio Iglesias and the Brazilian singers Luiz Gonzaga and Roberto Carlos. On the other hand, my father used to listen only to Brazilian singers as Clara Nunes and a sort of Brazilian country music, called “Sertanejo” with singers like Milionário and José Rico, Trio Parada Dura and a brand new duo, Chitãozinho and Xororó. I enjoyed it all and my father was always buying all sort of music, what I believe was great. I remember listening to Ravel´s “Bolero” not knowing exactly what kind of music it was. It gave me the “creeps”. Even now when a song makes me feel like this I know I deeply enjoy it. No matter the style, technique or way the music is arranged, there are songs that touch you, bring memories, feelings. What really matters is to know if the music makes you feel good.

I spent the 80´s developing my musical tastes, listening to a lot of music and “getting along” with the piano. I tried piano classes but it didn’t work. I always played by ear , so why bother to study theory of something I was already doing? I was lazy I confess, so I just look for the technical approach when facing problems to play something. In 1987 I got acquainted to my very first rock band in a birthday party. I asked them if I could drop by in a rehearsal and on the next week I was already part of the band called Open Space (later, Tâmisa).
From this time on I enrolled myself on the most important school of my life, the rehearsals and concerts school. It’s amazing how much you can learn from other musicians. In 1989 I was invited to play with a band called Tropical Magic. With this band I played from the Brazilians Blitz and César Camargo Mariano to Al Jarreau and Supertramp, Instrumental, Baiana music and Samba. It was a great moment and I owe a lot to these great musicians.
I was a good student, my school life was calm and cool, except for a short rebel moment with no consequences on my grades. My parents always had the grades they expect from me. In 1990 I started to perform on school breaks or events singing and playing.

I then realize the possibility of work with something I enjoyed. My grandparents Ivo and Zulmira sponsored the studio recording of some of my favorite songs. I took this demo to some night clubs and bars in Uberlândia, and then I started my “solo” career. It was great to play Pink Floyd, the Brazilians Barão Vermelho and Titãs to the teens on Friday nights and Phil Collins, Elton John and Supertramp to adults on Saturdays. Ironically my father who was never pro my need to spend time on music instead of studying, was my great sponsor and fan providing my first professional keyboard and proudly talking about his piano player son. Anyway in 1992 I started to study economy on college. I was then a composition teacher in a junior high school end kept playing in bars, cocktail and college parties from Van Halen to Our Brazilian Roberto Carlos.

The different styles I used to play got me invited to perform with different kinds of Rock, Brazilian Popular Music, and Regional Music Bands. I was able to perform with Brazilian Music names such as Oswaldo Montenegro and Paulo Miklos, I also played for Uberlândia (the city I used to live) City Choir, under the regency of Rejane Paiva in some unforgettable and very special presentations. I was also part of the Amacordes Group which joined popular and erudite and some precious musicians to me such as Maria Célia Vieira, Sérgio Melazzo, Flávio Arciole, Poliana Alves and Cícero Mota. Together we were in some extremely elegant events (quite different from my rock playing nights).

No need to mention that music kept me out from college, as I was back home at 04 am and had to leave to school at 06 am. My desk was, many times my bed, and the books my pillow. From college, I used to go to the local Mall to play the piano at lunch break. From the Mall, back home to write a song or jingle to an advertisement agency. Would you like to hear a sample? Go to "SOUNDTRACKS" section. So by this time, earning my own money, there was no point in continue to study. I was no economist material, I was a musician! I talked to my parents. My mother supports me as long as I was happy. My father made a fuss about it (what I would probably do myself, if it was my own son’s life) but in the end no one could stop my pursue of professional happiness.
From project to project it was 1998. I realized I had done a lot and, having a small studio in my place, it was easy to record my new ideas whenever they pop to my mind. From some soundtracks, jingles and instrumental ideas I had my first Cd, “PALA” with 19 tracks from my previous two work years. Do you want to listen? In "DISCOGRAPHY" you can find all tracks in Mp3 format. There is also the cover of the Cd to print. So if you wish you can download the tracks, the cover and have a copy of this out of production Cd.

The 1998 Cd trigged my career. It was a portfolio of my abilities as pianist, keyboard player and composer. It draws the attention of some people and I was invited to some jobs producing or playing. Some people asked me to do the arrangements to their songs. Among them Bruno, from the duo Bruno and Marrone and Luis Cláudio, from Luis Cláudio and Giuliano. The last one invited me to be part of his band. It was my first connection with the called “Sertanejo” music, until that opportunity it was new to me. I worked on the rehearsals, the programming and keyboard parts and in the concert. The professional environment pleased me, from the careful rehearsals to the well organized concerts. The commitment of the musicians and technical workers and singers also pleased me.
One of them was producing Cd’s in São Paulo and asked for me there. I used to take my own equipment, do the job and return to Uberlândia. I participated on the duo second Cd, I was responsible for an arrangement to the “Pele de Maçã” Cd of the Duo Matogrosso and Mathias and also took part on some local duos Cd’s. On some recordings, I worked mainly with two musicians, who were part of the Chitãozinho and Xororó band. I was still distributing my first Cd and I believe it was good, as in 2000 I was invited to be part of the Chitãozinho and Xororó band, doing the same job I was doing with the other duo, that is musical arrangements, programming, piano and keyboard playing on concerts and Cd’s. The only difference was that I was now playing with the biggest duo on Brazilian “Sertanejo” music, with the best songs and international reach. The demanding and the professional environment were also bigger. It was a leap on my career! Check the photos in "FILES" section.
And then, with a completely new life, living in a new city and totally dedicated to the duo, I spent the beginning of the millennium completely absorbed on my job, from studio to the road, from a city to another. I knew new places, new people, new co workers, friends and connections. This new environment soon had some consequences on my mind, my ideas. The big amount of information made me more and more creative and I restarted to compose. I was responsible for songs on the Chitãozinho and Xororó Cd “Inseparáveis” (2001), Sandy and Junior’s Cd “Identidade” (2003), the theme of their movie “Acquaria” (2004), Tradição Group’s Cd “Bendito Seja” (2003), the teen singer Aeileen (Cd-2003), the “Sertanejo” duo Cleber e Fernando (Cd-2006) and many others. I took part on the Brazilian’s TV series “Carga Pesada” soundtrack (2004) and the song “Eu e o Sabiá”, part of the soundtrack of the soap opera “Esperança” (2002) of Rede Globo TV.
However I was missing singing, playing in all the other styles I left aside and work on songs that could express my own personality. I had some ideas, new songs and used my free time investing on these ideas. And after more than thirty years, I finally come to my second Cd, “Eu” (Me) as a result of my recent musical trips. On this Cd I was the player, the singer, the producer; I did as I wish with no ambition but the desire of making my music. It is a picture of me, what was made of me, what I am right now.
Be Very welcome, enjoy our music, have fun!!!
